Well its been a bit of a quiet spell in the Garden, but then thats winter for you...just burnt up all of the cuttings and spread the ash out to fertilize the soil for the new season.
If you need a bit of a warm up in the meantime check out Simon's new project with Robert Jesse over at big momma Trial & Error

White Rabbit, White Rabbit, White Rabbit!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Helloha!
Quiet New Year to you all.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Good morning! how are you? shut up! - don't give me the small talk give me the big talk...' (Ivor Cutler)
Right big talk time...ALBUM....yup i said it ALBUM,ALBUM,ALBUM.....mmmm it feels good, rrrrrolllsss of the tongue.
BUT it is delicate, exotic and rare and as such is being delivered to the world gently and carefully via our friends in Japan at Rallye records. Release date 28th September 2005.
Visit the Rallye-Kanazawa website for some information, or the shop where you will be able to purchase the album and have it sent accross the world to your very own doorstep....exciting!
Here's the google translation of what Rallye say about it...
* The among such, solo * project of the Simon * load which is the center of the SIMIAN =GARDEN (the garden) finally starting! You cultivated in the scenery which the nature creates to be beautiful delicate melody and the roots of the self were searched and the debut * album which carves new history in genealogy of the English product SSW to the highest peak of the acoustic * pop which is born from the psychedelic world view which arrives, completed in the 此 place. It soaks in the chest and mellow melody somewhere the bosom oak く, but completely new acoustic * sound echoes, the door of the garden now opens, -.*
DO NOT WORRY those of you with less exotic tastes, as soon as the album is robust enough rest assured that we will endevour to find a suitable means of releasing it into our own rather harsh indigenous climate.
HOWEVER if you take just a couple of clicks to the sounds page you can hear the entire album in all it's glory via the wonder of mp3 jukebox!
PLUS we are going to be extra, extra good to you and over the next few weeks will make exclusive bonus tracks available for your perusal....crikey....wow.....flip.....these juicy morsels are beasts who were just too hard-to-handle to fit onto the perfectly balanced line-up you'll find on the album, but what treasures they behold!
now don't say we aint do no good to you x

Yes...it has been summer...we have been out in fields getting burnt to frazzled folk...
Now it is almost September...doesn't time fly?...though you may have noticed a few drops of rain and a slight cooling of the air, do not fret...'tis good for growth...our bountiful fruits are ripening off and will soon be ready for harvesting...now the sun is resting behind the clouds, we are moving back indoors and preparing the table for a huge feast, fresh from the Garden.
Not long now...Why not have a little sip of brandy to fire your appetite!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ahhh! And relax...
June...The sun is shining almost every day...quite rare on this island...What a great time to have a bit of a rest and get everything in order.
Speaking of which we have just finalised the running order for our debut album...
AN ALBUM! I hear you scream...well yes, and bloody lovely it sounds too...but there's still much preperation and pruning to be done and we must wait until the right time of year before releasing it from the greenhouse... just wanted to give you a little bit of excitement in this quiet spell...Well, not so quiet as it turns out...unless the guys forget to pedal that is!
I'll explain...Simon has been helping The Memory Band out on bass duties at some Green Festivals where the speakers are bicycle powered! When the bass started sounding fuzzy it seemed as if something had broken...until two guys jumped out of the audience and pedalled like crazy on the bikes to generate some more wattage...what a fantastic piece of hippy mentaldom!
Garden are also scouting for a spare sticksman due to the unbelievable demand for our drummer in his moonlit career as a music producer extraodinaire...so if you live in London and think you can fill James' giant boots on stage, get in touch.
Well thats about it for the news...hope to see you soon...gonna add a few new bits to the site soon so be sure to keep checking back to see whats growing in the garden...
love and peas.

Ha! All of the barley and hops in the world is not enought to kill me! How dare they try to test us?
Well it was a very boozy Sunday - felt like summer indeed, sitting in the road as the kids played. Simon valiantly battled the cardboard speakers!
The results of our early summer Aphid poll are now in...many looked bemused in the face of such questioning (how do I get rid of the four different types of dirty little buggers who are squatting on my tomato plant?) but collectively we have triumphed! The answer my friends, comes courtesy of Ray in Evesham, who writes...
PEST CONTROL INFORMATION
You need an Organic pest control which is based on plant oils and fatty acids.
Ladybirds like Aphids but if you plants are outside they will fly away!
You can grow a bedding plant, available at the moment called Tagetes,
besides your toms. It has pretty yellow flowers and Aphids do not like the
smell of it! you can get it from any nursery or Garden centre.
Good luck!
Thanks indeed - I'll get on to it right away...
And remember, as with all things in life, there are no free prizes in this competition - only the things you grow for yourself...
Oh and we'll be playing at the Spitz's ALL FOLKING WEEK festival in August so look out.
'Tis the season of poetry...who you reading? I'm digging old Seamus Heaney at present.
Word!

t'was good last night at the metro and its nice and sunny today as a direct result, obviously...see i told you we would cheer you up! thanks to all who came down and cheered at us...thats how it works you see...we play some songs...it makes you happy enough that you feel like cheering...then peter puts his hat on...the sun gets jealous and puts his on...then we all smile cos we're happy and the sun is shining...its supposed to rain again this weekend though, which is a pity cos i was going to go and check out the bluebell woods at Kew with a beautiful girl...only one solution...come and see us play at the Spitz on May 10th and scream and whistle...might just be enough to make it summer!
now, that would be nice.............
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
it rains and it pours and it shines once more, its hot, grot and inbetween all in an afternoon...then the rain becomes hail and lightning forks...be strong people...come and see us play on thursday...it'll cheer you up if you need it! Garden is loving these changing times...just take a look out the back door...all sorts of lovely things are readying themselves for summer...and the birdsong is all around...sing for me!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Happy Easter! Thanks to those of you who came down to Cecil Sharp house for Swaddling songs and witnessed the first outing of the new acoustic show complete with looping folkbot (who needs to handle its booze better).
Onwards to Filthy Macnasties tonight!
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
just been sitting out in the sun and the bumblebees told me that spring is buzzing our way...time to grab that girl and fall in love...don't miss the bluebells this year (April/May)...perfect for rolling in...any way you want to take that statement ;-)

bonjour,
Well that was just great at the Barfly. Thanks to everyone who came down on a monday night that a meteorologist would describe as "Grot". Was great to check out the suits and moustaches of cdoass who were over from sweden. Sharp. Brightened things up nicely for us to take to the stage and make all of the pretty girls think of butterflies and meadows. Doloroso rounded off the evening with the howl of a dying star...feedback forever actually!
It will soon be easter, so look out for daffodils and eggs.

Good day,
we just got back from Xfm were we recorded a session (listen here) for Claire Sturgess's Xposure show (monday - thursday 9-11),
many thanks to Claire who has had our debut EP as her single of the week and been playing it every night. The session will be broadcast on thursday 17th Feb, listen out for the organ playing of our brand new recruit Morgane Lhote (formerly of Stereolab and the Projects). She made her first live appearance at the Spitz show last week and has added another dimension with her psychedelic organ riffs.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
What what,
the eagle eyed amongst you may have noticed some press people writing nice things about the first Garden ep,
here's a couple choice quotes:
"Exemplary four track EP of exquisite modern folk. Never lapsing into the genre's usual formulae, Garden instead leans towards the future, with elements of krautrock and digital music adding to the brew" Music Week 5th Feb
"A psychedelic baroque explosion...each Garden song is full of brightly lit sunshine morning wonders...an innate sense of baroque beauty" Flux Magazine
What pleasant journalism! Also big love to Xfm dj Claire Sturgess, BBC Londons Sean Rowley and the Breezeblock who have all earnt a gold star for playing the EP,
See you in the Spitz!

Things are getting busy around at the studios with everyone keying up for the EP launch. Make sure to head down to the Spitz this Saturday so you don't miss the action. REVIEW
